Mask Genie is a new company based in Hong Kong that sends masks from all over Asia. I know of Genie from her blog Genie’s Favorite Products and respect that she will send quality masks that she would use herself. I signed up right away for the January and February pouches. They offer a 5 mask pouch for $11 and a 10 mask pouch for $22. Here is what I got in my 10 mask January pouch!
First Look – mine came in a blue chiffon bag.
Secret Key Snail + EGF Repairing Mask Pack. This mask from Korea contains snail mucin which is great for your skin. It’s very moisturizing and makes your skin feel soft. I actually have this exact mask that I got (I think) from Beauteque. I really like the brand Secret Key and am glad to have another one to try.
Dermal Collagen Essence Mask. This mask was randomly selected from collagen, syn-ake collagen or charcoal collagen. I would have been happy with any of those. This Korean mask also has English directions and ingredients on the back which is nice since I don’t speak or read Korean. I have never heard of this brand but Genie said it her unboxing video that it is a lower end brand but a nice quality for the price. It does have parabens in it so I would prefer masks without parabens but I will definitely use it.
I Love Sasatinnie Soya Milk Whitening & Nourishing Mask. This mask is from Hong Kong and contains soy milk. I like soy milk, especially for the winter as it’s quite moisturizing. It comes in a small package which is different but maybe less wasteful. I’m not familiar with the brand because I am generally into Korean brands so it’s nice to have another Asian mask to try out. This one also has parabens which I try to avoid but I will use this.
Petitfee Hydrogel Collagen & Co Q10 eye patches. I can always use eye patches, especially this time of year when I start working crazy hours for tax season. I may even take some to work with me this year to use, which may scare my co-workers lol. These are made in Korea and is another brand I’ve never heard of but am excited to try.
Etude House Green Tea Nose Pack. I’m definitely familiar with this Korean brand and have lots of their stuff. I really like the quality of their stuff eventhough it’s a cheaper brand. I don’t use nose packs anymore to remove blackheads because they are too harsh on my nose. They are really popular though so I will give this away to someone!
Sister Diary Apple Polyphenol Platinum. This is a Taiwanese brand. I’ve used My Beauty Diary masks which are also from Taiwan but have not heard of this brand. You could get a rose version or Apple and I’m really happy I got apple. The apple and platinum combo is supposed to be really good for oily skin. I may save this for summer when my combination skin turns oily!
Mediheal Mogongtox Soda Bubble Sheet Mask. I’ve heard of this Korean brand but have never tried any of their products. This was a spoiler for the pouch and I’m thrilled to have this unique product to try out. I’ve used bubbling wash off masks before but never a sheet mask. This includes a lot of good ingredients including some fermented ones! Can’t wait to try this out and will do so soon!
As an update here is me using this foaming mask! It was very tingly and I liked it lol. More thoughts in my mask post this weekend.
NextBeau EGF Collagen Piggy Mask. This Korean pore tightening mask has a very cute pig on the front. I think they try to make us forget where the pig collagen actually comes from. :). Since I’m in my mid-thirties I definitely use tightening and anti-aging products so I’m happy to try this out!
Lebelage Egg Natural Mask. Oooh an egg mask. Egg is one ingredient that I’ve really been wanting to try out on my face but I just haven’t picked up anything. This Korean mask includes egg yolk extract and I can’t wait to try it out. Unfortunately this one also has parabens!
Beyond the God of Patches Bye Bye to Excess Fats Firming Patch. I had to look this one up on Mask Genie’s facebook page since there wasn’t much English on this packaging (there may have been some on outer packaging but I threw that away!). This is a combination cotton and hydrogel mask and is used for slimming purposes. This mask is made in Korea and I’m not so sure if it will work for sliming but I think it sounds fun to try.
Overall I’m quite happy with this first mask pouch. I didn’t do a cost breakdown but it’s worth the $22 to me to get a fun and curated bag of masks. There are also some new brands that I probably would never try except for this pouch.
I do wish that there was product card (Genie said there was a printing issue so they didn’t get done in time). I also hope there a fewer masks with parabens next time (though I realise a lot of people don’t care about that). I will use all of these masks except for the nose patch, so keep an eye on my weekly Sunday mask posts for reviews on them!
Check out the Mask Genie Facebook page here if you are interested in subscribing. Right now she does not have a website so she will send you an invoice.
