Yuzen Summer 2015 Unboxing

Yuzen is a quarterly subscription box that brings you eco-conscious products to nourish the body and soul.  You can really tell that care is taken to pick each item and the info card even has a section to tell you why they picked each item.  I’ve been a subscriber for a while and I really enjoy seeing the products they send each quarter. Let’s see what I got!

First Look

Product Card – they always include coupon codes.

Aromaflage Wild Sample. Value $3.50. This is a botanical fragrance and insect repellent. This is a natural way to get bugs to leave you alone!  We received another sample from this company in Yuzen before in a different scent. This scent is Wild which is a blend of cardamom, cedarwood and spruce. I’m not a fan of this scent and honestly we have some serious bugs in KS and I really need something a little stronger to keep the bugs away unfortunately. If you live in a less aggressive bug area this may work for you.

Aromafloria Muscle Soak Ocean Mineral Bath Salts.  Value $3. This muscle soak contains eucalyptus, peppermint and lemongrass essential oils to soothe aches and pains and relieve dry skin. This sounds nice and I do enjoy taking baths. My only issue is that this is a summer box and I don’t take baths in the summer since it’s so hot out (I do still take showers don’t worry! :)). I think this would be better suited for a fall or winter box.

Hugo Naturals Vanilla & Sweet Orange Shower Gel. Value $2.99. This shower gel smells really good. I love a citrus scent for shower gel as its not too strong and this one is perfect. This shower gel contains vitamin E, aloe, pure vegetable glycerin and vanilla and orange essence. Lovely and I can’t wait to use this.

Jurlique Purely Age-Defying Firming and Tightening Serum. Value $13.  Jurlique pops up quite a bit in sub boxes so I’ve tried quite a few of their products and I’m a fan!  They work well with my skin and they smell quite nice too. This one targets anti-aging and contains a botanical blend of oat kernel extract, beech tree bud extract and tapioca starch.

Lasting Smiles Organic Peppermint Lip Balm. Value $4.99. This is a pretty standard lip balm made with coconut oil and beeswax. It’s also for a great cause as every 1,000 balms sold funds a cleft-lip surgery for a child in need. I think that’s fantastic. I do wish I had received the unscented version though as this mint is pretty strong.

Shea Moisture Zanzibar Marine Complex Replenish & Rejuvenate Hand Cream. Value $5.99. I’ve received Shea Moisture products in sub boxes before. You can get it at Target so it’s pretty easy to find too. This hand cream contains marine algae extracts, black pearl protein, sea buckhorn oil and organic Shea butter. My problem with the Shea Moisture products is they are often quite fragrant which I do not care for.  This one is pretty smelly so I will give this one away.

Spa Ritual Nail Lacquer. Mini polish in Dreamsicle. Value $6.50. I have received Spa Ritual polishes before and I typically really like them. I love the color of this for summer but I used it and it did not wear very well and chipped within a day.  It was pretty thin too so it needed 3 coats to cover my nails. I do like that this is a mini polish as I have so many polishes!

Suntegrity 5-in-1 Naural Moisturizing Face Sunscreen. Value $4.95.  This a tinted sunscreen this has SPF 30 protection. I received the fair version which is perfect for me. I’m not sure if other ones were sent out or if I just lucked out to get fair. I will definitely use this during the summer.

Torie & Howard Meyer Lemon & Raspberry Organic Hard Candy. Value $4.99. These candies surprised me as I didn’t expect them to be individually wrapped but I think that is nice. They are only 12 calories each which is nice. I’m not sure if I will like the lemon and raspberry combo but I will definitely give these a try and if I don’t like them I can take them to work.

I calculate a value of $49.91 for this box and I paid $33. This is definitely not my most favorite Yuzen box as the value is a bit low and several of the items I won’t use. That is unusual for me as I usually love my Yuzen boxes. Hopefully they will be back next quarter with one I love!
